Each season we select local gardening experts and designers, as well as our knowledgeable senior staff, to teach seminars & workshops in our popular gardening education series. Unless otherwise noted, seminars are free for Rewards Members (Workshop fees are additional), and $10 for non-members (membership is free!). All participants receive a 10% off coupon for redemption at any of our locations. Please call ahead to the seminar location to reserve a seat. Attendance is limited.

 

Seminar: Hummingbird Gardening

Learn all about attracting these beautiful creatures into your garden.  Join our expert staff as they discuss hummingbird garden design tips.  We’ll go over plants for both sun and shade, and talk about how to create a hummingbird habitat. Seminar: Summer Monthly Vegetable Talk in Concord!

Join us monthly all summer for a guided vegetable growing discussion group. Our staff members will check in with you each month to see how your vegetable garden is doing, share successes, offer tips, and help troubleshoot vegetable growing challenges. Seminar: Cymbidium Orchid Repotting & Care

Seminar: Secret Gardening Season (Pam Peirce):

We are so excited to welcome back Pam Peirce to our stores! Learn from the Bay Area vegetable gardener extraordinaire herself. January through March is one of the best vegetable growing seasons in the Bay Area, and the one least utilized. Crops growing at this time of year use any rainfall they can get in order to produce some of the most tender, crisp, and delectable harvests. In this class you’ll learn how to get the most from this under-appreciated season. Pam will explain how to select varieties for fall, when and how to plant them, and what crops are best for winter-into-spring container gardens. Planting Parties at Sloat Garden Center

Plan a party with us!  Choose from a variety of planting parties where participants create beautiful plant projects to take home (terrariums, wreaths, planters or centerpieces, etc).
