Upcoming Workshops & Seminars

Each season we select local gardening experts and designers, as well as our knowledgeable senior staff, to teach seminars & workshops in our popular gardening education series. Unless otherwise noted, seminars are free for Rewards Members (Workshop fees are additional), and $10 for non-members (membership is free!). All participants receive a 10% off coupon for redemption at any of our locations. Please call ahead to the seminar location to reserve a seat. Attendance is limited.

 

Make & Take Workshop: Create a Beautiful Terrarium

Our Bay Area garden experts will be on hand to demonstrate, offer tips, and inspire you to create a one-of-a-kind terrarium. Class fee includes glass terrarium, plants, soil, gravel.  Fee: $50 for Reward Members, $60 for Non-Members (Membership is free)

Make & Take Workshop: Create a Colorful Indoor Planter

Bring the color indoors! Our designers will demonstrate and guide participants to create a colorful planter using orchids and bromeliads. Leave with a beautiful arrangement that will bring color into your home. Class fee includes 14” container, plants, soil, moss. Fee: $75 for Rewards Members, $85 for Non-Members (Membership is free)

Seminar: How to Prune Roses

Learn from Marin Rose Society and Bay Area gardening experts how to prune roses effectively. Good pruning can increase the overall health of plants and leave them less susceptible to insects and disease. Seminar: How to Prune Fruit Trees

We welcome back Elizabeth Ruiz, garden designer and aesthetic pruner. She’ll explain why it’s important to know when to prune, and she’ll demonstrate techniques to maximize disease resistance and fruit production.

Planting Parties at Sloat Garden Center

Make an appointment for a planting party! Choose from a variety of individualized planting parties where participants create beautiful plant projects to take home (terrariums, wreaths, planters or centerpieces). Planting parties are a delight for birthdays, showers, or garden group meetings. Currently available at our Sloat Blvd., Mill Valley (Miller Ave.), Kentfield, Danville (Diablo Rd.), Pleasant Hill, and Concord locations. Classes last approx. one hour and are led by our excellent designers. Contact our Events Manager for details.
