Be prepared for the very hot Bay Area weather we’re expecting this weekend with the following tips:
- The key to hot weather plant care is to irrigate early in the day, and deeply. Note: some plants like fuchsias and impatiens may wilt in the heat, even though they’ve been watered, but they should recover.
- Unless absolutely necessary, don’t water in the middle of the day (fast evaporation makes for inefficient watering).
- Don’t hose plants down in the full sun. This practice can promote fungus spread, or burn tender leaves.
- Remember to check on your houseplants. They need water, too!
