Maxsea plant foods is a small, family-owned company founded in 1967 by John Dimmick. John started making Maxsea in his California garage as a way to re-purpose wasted sawdust and bark from his family’s sawmill operations. He soon created a line of organic potting soils and then began incorporating soluble seaweed granules.
As soon as the Sloat Garden Center staff tried Maxsea, they fell in love with how gentle his product was on plants…even orchids! Maxsea deepened the colors, growth, bloom, and vigor of indoor and outdoor plants alike. Now, decades after we first met John, we still buy directly from this small, quality company.
